VERDE AT GREENBELT STATION ATTAINS LEED GOLD CERTIFICATION!

Baltimore, MD – Atapco Properties is pleased to announce that on March 22nd, 2017, Verde at Greenbelt Station, the recently completed 302-unit luxury apartment complex located in Greenbelt, Maryland, was awarded LEED Gold Certification from the United States Green Building Association (USGBC). LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the USGBC’s rating system for the design and construction of energy-efficient and high-performing buildings that are better for our environment and our communities.

Verde at Greenbelt Station, developed by a partnership between Atapco Properties and The Dolben Company, is Atapco’s newest transit-oriented development, and one of many projects in Atapco’s portfolio to have attained a LEED Certification. The luxury apartment community is less than a mile from the Greenbelt Metro Station, providing quick and simple commuting for residents, along with a multitude of amenities, energy efficient living and easy access to employment, retail and recreation. The concept for this development focused on creating a sustainable multi-family project that did not compromise on luxury. Apartments feature high-end finishes and appliances, as well as several courtyards, a dog-run area, fitness center, bocce ball court and swimming pool for residents’ enjoyment.

Atapco Properties Vice President Russ Powell, remarked, “Verde at Greenbelt’s LEED Gold Certification is yet another example of Atapco’s commitment to sustainability in all that we do. All along, our goal was to create a beautifully designed and quality-built project that is environmentally sound, provides an overall healthier living environment for residents, and serves as an asset to Greenbelt and the community at large. All of this could not have been accomplished without the dedication and expertise of our design, engineering and construction teams, and I thank them for helping us to bring this project to fruition.”

Verde at Greenbelt Station’s design has allowed for a significant reduction in energy use and improved efficiency throughout the site. Sustainability features of the project include: a 130 kW solar array that provides over 5% of the total electricity used in the complex, efficient low-flow plumbing fixtures, light-pollution minimization efforts, as well as tankless hot water heaters, LED lighting and high efficiency heat pumps that are showing a 36% energy savings as compared to comparable buildings.
